YCCS a True Mix of Sport and Excellence
ICONIC SAIL| Alessio Patti
In the world of boats, ports, and luxury marinas, the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda certainly has received some of the best reviews in Europe. In addition to being located in one of the most beautiful and fascinating places in the Mediterranean, it is also an important sports marina. Superyacht regattas, as well as European and world championships for different classes, have all been held in Costa Smeralda for years now. Therefore, 2018 can’t fail to respect such acclaimed traditions and the program has high standards, just like the prestige of YCCS. The season starts in May in Porto Cervo with Vela & Golf, where international golfers and sailing clubs meet up at the Yacht Club. After three days in Porto Cervo (May 11-13), it is Poltu Quatu’s turn May 26 and 27, with the Alessandro Boeris Clemen Trophy Challenge, commemorating commander Alessandro Boeris Clemen who died at the end of the ‘90s.
The season then comes alive on the last day in May with Audi Sailing Champions League, the first leg of a competition that brings well over 30 teams together in Porto Cervo. The Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta follows on June 5, where elegant and supremely beautiful superyachts from all over the world will parade and compete to highlight glamour in a unique event.
June ends with the Audi Invitational Team Racing Challenge (June 21) and the Smeralda Europe Cup 888 (June 29), while in July there is Classe Melges 40 for the One Ocean Melges 40 Grand Prix (July 5). In August, more great shows are planned with YCCS Social Championship (August 5), Formenton Trophy (August 20), and the Palermo-Monte-Carlo (August 21).

The Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup and Rolex Swan Cup follow, events where elegance, competence, and competition unite in a mix of amazing and noble sportsmanship
starting on September 2. The Perini Navi Cup (September 19) and the finals of the Audi Italian Sailing League (September 27t), are races where the best qualifying teams will compete for the title of National champion club, thus ending four months full of excellence.

There are no adjectives to fully describe the prestige of a season so packed with events, perfect for anyone who loves the world of yachts, sailing, golf, and exclusivity, surrounding an organization so full of charm. Yacht Club Costa Smeralda has for years been a step ahead of everyone in regards to organizing impressive events, and it proves once again it is still la crème de la crème of any marine hyperbole.
