The Most Beautiful Lagoon
ICONIC SUSTAINABILITY | Autore Asia Bernardini
“Polynesian people have a lot to give to the rest of the world. Tahiti benefits from its reputation not without reason. Tahiti is real. It is not a myth but rather a way of seeing
life… a life that can be described as a silk cloth in the wind.” – Marlon Brando Marlon Brando wanted to preserve Tetiaroa’s natural beauty, incredible biodiversity, and cultural richness. He had ambitious plans to make it a model of sustainability. Sharing the famous actor’s passion for Tetiaroa, The Brando aims to follow and nurture this vision. In fact, it was the first resort in the world to obtain the LEED Platinum certification, the highest recognition in the field of energy and environmental design, as a new construction in the “campus” category. Use of fossil fuels is reduced to a minimum, and the use of natural gas is limited to the kitchen. Materials used for construction of the resort are also of certified local origin, renewable or made up of recycled components.
Furthermore, for Tetiaroa, the resort is committed to protecting the island’s rich fauna, keeping the air clean and the lagoon unpolluted. To achieve this, one of the goals
set is to neutralize carbon emissions. The Brando is accessible only by private flights operated by Air Tetiaroa exclusively for the Resort, for an experience of absolute comfort immersed in pristine nature. The Resort is all-inclusive, and features 35 deluxe villas each with its own beach area and private pool, restaurants where you can
enjoy the best of Polynesian and French cuisine, a sumptuous Polynesian spa, a gym and tennis court, a lagoon-view bar, beach bar, infinity pool, organic garden and orchard, library, and two boutiques. The Brando has introduced the Villa & Breakfast formula which joins the much-appreciated all-inclusive offer, and includes accommodation in a villa and breakfast, an ideal solution for those who prefer to enjoy their stay in freedom, with the possibility to discover refined culinary proposals at The Brando’s restaurants. The Brando is unique in the world, a cutting-edge model of ecosustainable technologies, which include an air-conditioning system powered by sea water, the use of renewable energy such as solar energy and coconut oil, and a scientific research station. To reduce or eliminate emissions, all guests at the resort are provided with bicycles and electric vehicles powered by solar energy. In addition, The Brando offers itself as ambassador of a carbonneutral purchase program to supply vehicles for travel between the islands but also for international flights. The Brando, an ambitious project of preserving natural beauty which has become reality.
