With the Engadine Mountains as the backdrop, horses gallop elegantly on the crystal-clear, frozen lake of St. Moritz capturing the crowd’s attention. The exciting Snow Polo World Cup tournament takes place here every year; its 34th edition was held from January 26 to 28, 2018. It is the only polo tournament with a difficult handicap: the snow. After three intense days of daring challenges, the finals proved to be an epic battle. Captained by champion Rommy Gianni, winner of previous tournaments, Team Cartier triumphed over Team Maserati 4.5 to 4. However, Team Maserati’s debut at St. Moritz was met with enthusiastic applause and encouragement from the public.
This event is one of passion, sport, and luxury from the power of the tournament to the glamour of Polo Village. Here, Maserati exhibited its fleet of cars, offering test drives on the “Maserati Snow & Ice Experience” frozen course, in addition to supporting Team Maserati at the World Cup, delighting their guests with the prestigious Gala Dinner. Founder and Organizer Reto Gaudenzi has continued to say how proud he is of the event’s great success, thanks to the players’ memorable performances, the crowd’s enthusiasm, and sponsors such as luxury hotels, restaurants, and many other partners, including official outfitter La Martina and Perrier Jouet champagne.
Guests included several prominent personalities, such as British polo star Malcolm Borwick, former slalom World Champion Giorgio Rocca, and fashion influencers Paolo Stella and Tamu McPherson. Enrico Roselli, CEO of La Martina, added, “For more than thirty years, La Martina has been an enthusiastic participant at the Snow Polo St. Moritz ice tournaments. Our brand is based on honest passion for polo and everything that makes it unique and engaging: dynamism, fair play, discipline, constant training, and an unrivaled level of entertainment. These are the pillars of a sport that never disappoints. Like every year, we are excited to participate inthis event – one that can’t be missed – and we are happy to convey our passion to the world, amidst the white beauty of St. Moritz. You can’t pass up this exciting event, and the chance to be surrounded by international jet setters, vertiginous peaks, and coniferous woods – ready to welcome guests from January 25 to 27, 2019.
