Rolex, King of Partnerships

ICONIC WATCH | Alessio Patti

When quality and high-value materials meet the genius of perfect design, the result is pure eye poetry. It doesn’t stop there – Rolex is by now the king of watches worldwide, known for making each watch much more than just an ordinary accessory, with careful attention to detail and nuance. It is a business card, a social trademark. Founded in 1905 and now a world leader in the sector, there isn’t a man or woman on earth that hasn’t heard of its fame and importance.

Furthermore, the Swiss company launched a unique initiative in 1976 with economic awards aimed at encouraging projects that promote progress and well-being. The “Rolex Awards for Enterprise” are open to anyone with a great spirit of enterprise: without limits on age, citizenship or social background. Rolex encourages original ideas that bring new life to the social machine, tried and tested but never nearly enough.

The prizes awarded at the end of the event spread over categories such as “Science & Health“, “Applied Technology“, “Exploration & Discovery“, the “Environment“, and “Cultural Heritage“, and include handsome funding for projects and a gold Rolex chronometer. Promoting the most famous watch brand in the world is not limited just to creating events like “Rolex Awards for Enterprise”. Top-level partnerships embrace many fields, including sports of course.

For ten consecutive years, Rolex has been a partner with the “Italian Open”, the most important Italian men’s and women’s tennis tournament scheduled for May in Rome. Together with Monte-Carlo, this tournament is considered the world’s most prestigious red clay tennis event after the French Open. The tournament will be held at Foro Italico’s Roman courts in the second half of May, as a combined event where both men and women play at the same time.

It doesn’t stop there. From August 31 to September 2, at the Formula 1 World Grand Prix, Rolex will be present at the “Monza Grand Prix” for the sixth consecutive year. Considered the temple of Italian Formula 1 racing, Monza and Rolex make an exciting pair coupling the excellence of sports mechanics with the luxury of the best watches in the world. The same goes for golf, which has had a strong partnership with Rolex for over 50 years: Rolex has in fact established

Relationships with the greatest living legends that made the sport famous. Last but not least, Vela Rolex 2018 – Italian Mediterranean sailing championships with the Rolex name – is the cherry on top. The season opens with “Rolex Capri Sailing Week” starting on May 11 with the 64th Three Gulf Regatta and ends a week later with the arrival in Capri.

The competition continues in the second week of June at Sanremo – Saint Tropez – Genoa at the “Giraglia Rolex Cup”. Then there is the “Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup” at Porto Cervo where the entire competition ends with the “Rolex Swan Cup”. From March 22 to 27, Rolex is presenting the latest creations from its Oyster and Cellini collection at Baselworld 2018 in Basel.

Like every Rolex watch, new models have the Superlative Chronometer certification that is unique to the brand, and symbolized with a green seal that ensures the strictest watch-making criteria in terms of precision, impermeability, automatic charge and autonomy, accompanied by an international 5-year warranty. Present worldwide for years, the Swiss brand continues to lead the world of watches with elegance and luxury.
