ICONIC DESIGN | Asia Bernardini

G-Rough: a perfect combination of style and design. Situated in Piazza Pasquino in the center of the Eternal City, this elegant hotel is the essence of a new project that arose from a friendship between Emanuele Garosci, creator of Palazzina G, and Gabriele Salini. Together they are responsible for the birth of an unconventional structure, the bearer of a new ideal of hospitality.

Unconventionality is the watchword and it is found in the original stylistic choices, with tributes to genius artists such as Gio Ponti, Ico Parisi, Guglielmo Ulrich, Joe Colombo, Tobia and Afra Scarpa, Osvaldo Borsani, Silvio Cavatorta, Gino Sarfatti, Piero Fornasetti, and Tony Zuccheri. The location is simultaneously modern and ancient, able to accommodate guests in apartments and suites, each different in their great attention to uniqueness. The elegant building dates back to the 1600s and was restored in the late 1800s; its typical 17th century Roman bourgeois style is spread over five floors.

The Hotel features five apartments from 95 to 130 square meters in an elegant and comfortable environment, with a view of the city or the structure’s Roman courtyard. In addition, there are four types of suites totaling ten unique accommodations with original style. A dreamlike path, reminiscent of Fellini, fluctuates between Baroque and whimsical illusion. Features include painted wooden ceilings, patina walls, parquet and tiled floors, adorned with refined vintage furniture.

On the ground floor we find “G-Bar Art Gallery,” designed to host events and to promote the works of local designers and artists. Classic furniture pays homage to Italian design of the ‘30s, ‘40s, and ‘50s. A contemporary wine gallery is enhanced bya selection of excellent niche wine labels from small Italian producers. In the heart of Rome, rediscover its unconventional essence and experience the unforgettable fusion of ancient history and contemporary culture.
