Aston Martin DB11
ICONIC AUTOMOTIVE | Chiara Melani
It is surely the most dynamic, with a top speed of 321 km/h and a 0-100 km/h time of just 3.9 seconds. Muscles and nerves give shape and volume to the details on the surface with classic proportions. Its aerodynamics represents the maximum of perfection, cleverly capturing the airflow, generating the ultimate stability while preserving uncluttered surfaces.
Profile lines flow out and structure takes form from the distinctive Aston Martin front grill, the focal point of the design’s inspiration; it is the paradigm of a new vision implemented by DB11. The front-hinging clamshell bonnet is a continuation of the intrepid design’s “attitude”, merging unique style and strict pedestrian safety regulations.
“Curlicue” and “Aston Martin AeroBlade” are two solutions that have been made.
The first is a gill-like vent which releases high-pressure air from inside the wheel arch reaching the rear of the car; the “AeroBlade” uses air intakes along the sides to improve stability at the rear. A small spoiler rises from the rear decklid, increasing the effectiveness of “Aston Martin AeroBlade”.
After its successful global introduction in 2016, Aston Martin’s definitive GT – the acclaimed DB11 – is now available with a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine.
Perfectly complementing the DB11’s existing 5.2-litre twin turbocharged V12 engine, this new powerplant has provided the opportunity to reveal more of the DB11’s sporting character, while expanding its global appeal with a combination of exceptional performance and improved efficiency. Producing 510PS (503BHP) and 675Nm of torque, the V8 engine’s potency is beyond question, propelling the DB11 from 0-62mph in just 4.0sec and on to a top speed of 187mph. This exceptional performance is matched by impressive efficiency: CO2 emissions of 230g/km1 and an EU Combined fuel economy figure of 28.5mpg1.
The DB11 Volante completes the family, offering an equally stunning open-topped GT experience It is a crowning achievement of excellence and an effigy of unique design, just like past icons such as DB2/4 DB5, and more recently, DB10 which was developed specifically for the James Bond series’ latest world-famous masterpiece.
